Happy to be home

Ruth Harris openly admits that she is ‘very blessed’ to have a range of services provided by RAAFA Connect that enable her to stay living independently at home.

The soon-to-be 97-year-old receives domestic assistance services fortnightly and also social support services each month when RAAFA Connect’s Community Support Worker, Erin, takes her shopping to buy groceries.

“I’m very grateful to have the services I receive, I’ve lived at Meadow Springs for 21 years, and I certainly don’t want to move anywhere else,” says the great, great, great grandmother.

“The housework and garden was starting to get a little too much for me, and I realised I might not be able to cope by myself, but as a result of getting all of this help I’m doing really well.”

Nurse Manager at RAAFA Connect, Lorraine Sloan, says RAAFA’s in-home support division offers clients a range of individualised services.

“We will work with the client to coordinate a support plan tailored to their individual needs,” says Lorraine.

“We are here to help clients remain as independent as possible to assist them to remain living in their own homes, and we would welcome a call from anyone who would like to discuss our services further.”

RAAFA Connect nurses and support team work together to improve a person’s ability to stay at home. They do this by listening carefully to their needs and coordinating a personalised service that specifically suits.
