RAAFA Estate Merriwa consists of 234 two bedroom and 6 three bedroom Independent Living Units, a 61 bed Residential Aged Care Facility (Karri Lodge), a 48 bed Nursing Home (Tuart Lodge), a 20 bed Low care facility Banksia, and 5 Motel Units (Zamia Lodge).
There are five motel units located on the Estate, in Zamia Lodge. These are available for booking by RAAF Association members and others. Contact the Office for rates. The units have one bedroom containing either a double, or two single beds, and a living/dining area. Bookings and information from Office Reception on Ph:9400 3400.
RAAF Association Advocates are available to assist residents who have DVA entitlements. The Pensions Officer is Darryl Ikin (9305 3783).
BEAUTICIAN & MASSAGE THERAPY
A Beautician visits the Estate each Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00am to 12.00 noon. Venue is the Podiatrist's room located in the Arcade. Services provided are facial and nail treatments, tinting, waxing and massage therapy. Bookings are made in the file located on the information desk in the Arcade.
Dr. Therese Fisher operates a surgery located in the Arcade.
The hairdressing salon is located in the Arcade. They provide a full service for both MEN and WOMEN, using quality products.
HEARING (TEST, FITTING, REPAIRS)
Australian Hearing visits the Estate every second Tuesday. Venue is the Podiatrist’s room in the Arcade.
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE
Currently we have one practising JP residing on the Estate
Quinns Centre Pharmacy provides a pick up and delivery service for pharmaceutical requirements.
A Podiatrist attends the Estate on Friday mornings between 8.00am to 1.00pm. The Podiatrist's room is located in the Arcade.
A Chiropractor attends the Estate on Monday mornings between 8.00am to 1.00pm.
Welfare Officer in Merriwa is Suzanne Free. Her office is located in the Arcade, next to Administration.
The Welfare Officer provides a wide range of services to residents including:
- Assistance with Dept. of Veterans' Affairs or Centrelink matters
- Documents relating to Subsidised Taxi Vouchers, Enduring Powers of Attorney, DVA Transport and factors relating to the Office of Seniors' Interests.
- General concerns and worries related to your quality of life
- Advocating on your behalf with government departments
- Witnessing documents (if authorised)
- Provide forms to redirect mail and make electoral roll changes
- Links to…..assessment for possible transfer from Independent Living to Aged Care Facility
The Estate Library is located in the Arcade at the Bowling Green end. It is stocked with a good collection of large print and regular print books, audiotapes and videos. The service is for residents only. Library hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 12.00noon Saturday. The Library is closed Sunday and Public Holidays.
The Estate Chapel is located on Acacia Boulevard, next to the tennis court. The Uniting, Anglican and Catholic Churches conduct services in the Chapel for residents and Association members. Uniting Church services are held on the first and third Sunday of each month, commencing 11.00am. Anglican Church services are held on the second and fourth Sundays, commencing 11.00am. Notice of Catholic services is posted on the inside of the door to the Chapel. On the fifth Sunday of the month (where applicable) a combined Anglican/Uniting service is held at 11.00am.
Facilities include a chapel, swimming pool, therapy pool, tennis court, 3 bowling greens, club with licensed bar, restaurant, workshop.
